I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and doggonit, people like me

So I spent about a half hour this morning writing a truly touching post about the parallels between seven-year-old Ashley and twenty-seven year old Ashley… and freaking WordPress deleted my post!  Apologies to those of you that get the email updates and had a strange one sent to you with just an adorable picture of Travis and myself playing in front of our old Fremont house.  It was about… blah blah blah blah blah.  There, that sums it up.

So instead, I wanted to share something else.  Say what you will about self-help books, but I just started reading something that was recommended to me by a few people, The Artist’s Way.  In the first chapter, it guides you how to develop a daily affirmation, based on reversing the negative and judgmental thoughts that run through one’s head.  So I created my affirmation (no, I’m not sharing it with you – THAT would be way too cheesy) and after talking with my Mom about it, she reminded me of one of her favorite SNL sketches, featuring the junior United States Senator from Minnesota, Al Franken.  Enjoy.

The Artists Way will be a GREAT activity for you on the cruise, especially with your quest to fin your inner artist. I have tried to start it a few times but have gotten lazy and distracted by life, so watch out for pot holes and stay focused on the ship! xo
