Well, eventually. My flight [as of now] is delayed 2.5 hours, and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it won’t be even later than that. After being in New York City for nine months straight (with the exception of one night on the Jersey shore), I am SOOOO freakin’ excited to get back to the Bay Area, hang out with family, drink some Harrell wine, and R E L A X. Frankie says so. Check out the Christmas tree in front of my building. —>
I’ve been doing my best to hit up the Broadway auditions around here, though with the dwindling economy, many shows are being forced to close. So sad! Last week I went to the Spiderman audition – a new musical based on the movie, music by Bono and directed by Julie Taymor, and this week I hit up the Mary Poppins audition. I was thrilled to be seen at both, as they were Equity auditions. The Mary Poppins audition went spectacularly. I was thrilled with my performance, and the other ladies in the hallway even complimented me as I come out of the audition room. This says a lot, as the women found at Broadway auditions tend to be… um… a certain breed. At auditions, I usually find myself a corner of the room and meditate on good thoughts – instead of chatting and backstabbing with the other pancake-makeup-clad mean girls. Anyhow… the audition went well, and I am looking forward to hitting up many more in January.
Other good news. I found a job! Starting in mid-January, I will be in membership sales for a non-profit organization called ACE – the Association of Community Employment Programs for the Homeless. It’s a great program, and I am thrilled to take my skills to help expand their organization. As I told my friend Jenna who helped me get the job, “I can’t wait to use my powers for good rather than evil.” Although I will have to adjust my spending and most likely find another part-time job, I believe ACE will be a nice departure from the financial industry…
Last week, Brooke and I had a Christmas party ala Clark Griswold of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Tacky sweaters and turtlenecks, pigs in a blanket and Hello, My Name Is _____ stickers – who could ask for more? It was a great gathering of friends, and we are all looking forward for another great bash in a few months.
Snow. It snowed a lot yesterday. And my bike got hit by a car. The back tire needs to be replaced… uggh…. why doesn’t Kyle just live in New York?
What else? Oh, still a vegan. Slipped up a bit last weekend, but felt pretty terrible after eating eggs and crab cakes. I know my friends hate it, but I love all the vegan food and I feel so much better eating it! I really want to get some vegan cookbooks – like “Skinny Bitch In the Kitch.”
Okay, now I NEED to finish packing so that I can be sure to get myself and my feline to the airport for our majorly delayed flight. Gotta love JFK.
Can’t wait to see you and wrap my arms around you. We even have a veganrecipe for you, just a cookie one. See you Thursday. Oma
Welcome home! xoxo Mom
